Rainbow Frogskins

Division Street just posted the latest color of the limited edition Frogskins.... and its rainbow. S'FRESH. They only made 20 pairs and they're being sold exclusively at Blends Los Angeles.

I already have a pair of matte rootbeer frames w/ fire iridium lenses, and Pan Tostado has the clear frames w/ violet iridium lenses (actually I think he smashed them with a golf cart, Pan-please explain in comments? and check out the gnarly reflections in that pic Ultramafic took of Pan Tostado this spring).

I want a second pair but I'm torn between the Trouble Andrew glow in the dark frames, the black frames, or the red, which means that I probably don't LOVE any of them and should wait for a color to be released that I must have.
I know you boys struggle with the whole sunglasses thing (always paranoid about looking gay ya ya). So if you're looking for a pair of effortlessly cool shades, I suggest a pair of black Frogskins (left) for three reasons:

  1. at around 100 bucks they're a total steal
  2. they're limited edition so only the kewl kids will have them (so ebay is your best bet)
  3. they're a great alternative to the Wayfarer, which I am getting more sick of each and every block I walk.

Electroma

Daft Punk's 2006 scifi flick "Electroma" comes out on DVD today ( July 22nd) complete with a 40-page book of color images.

The 67-minute film follows two motorcycle-helmet-clad robots (Hero Robot #1, and Hero Robot #2) on an epic roadtrip through the Cali desert in search of becoming human....in a black late 80s ferrari.

The film is written and directed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter (the duo behind Daft Punk), but they are not in it, nor is their music. The works of Todd Rundgren, Brian Eno, SƩbastien Tellier, Curtis Mayfield, Linda Perhacs, Jackson C. Frank and Mathieu Tonetti are, however...i have it, its great.

The film has been very well received at both Cannes (where it premiered in 2006), and at midnight screenings of the film in various cities. Has anyone seen it yet?

Electro+Ferrari 412+Motorcycle Helmets+Roadtrip+Wall E = sounds promising.

buy it for $17 on Amazon, or rent it online at Lycos Cinema.

here's a teaser:

Gin and Titonic?

Ultramafic, Rives, and I enjoyed the early evening on the roof of Ultramafic's apartment drinking g&t's. Actually, i got a little carried away with the g when mixing the drinks, so we splashed a lil' pomegranate green tea in. the end result was a refreshing and tangy summer punch.

Too bad we didn't have these pun-happy gin&titonic ice cubes! (here are some other cool lego and tetris ice trays ML loves, too)

There's Nothin' Like Some Good Ole' Taxidermy

I kinda love this moose wall lamp. Can't you just picture this hanging in the backyard garden of some shabby apartment? maybe alongside some draping white Christmas lights? i'd serve gin gin mules.

When i saw this lamp I couldn't help but think of that incident at Freeman's a few months back that i got such a chuckle out of hearing.

david hasselhoff's knight rider whip for sale

KITT, David Hasselhoff's talking 1984 Pontiac Trans-Am whip in "Knight Rider" is for sale on ebay right now. The going bid is 42gs.

And no, the Hoff isn't selling KITT to pay his bills or finance his skanky drinking habits. the car is part of a murdered Greenwich business man's estate sale. Andrew Kissel was stabbed five or six times in the back just days before he was to serve a 10+ year sentence for forging documents to obtain more than $16 million in loans. Police arrested Andrew Kissel's driver & driver's cousin soon after the murder.

Andrew Kissel's brother, Robert, was also murdered in 2003. His wife, Nancy, poisoned his milkshake while in Hong Kong.
