The Twelves: Episode II

Rio's dope boys, The Twelves, have come correct with another dirty dozen. This one's a teensy bit less dancy than their first installment, but it's equally entertaining and pretty spectacular in its own right. Once again, they've chosen 12 viciously hip tracks, mixing them together with ease and sophistication. Of all the peeps remixing tunes these days, there are few who are more meticulous and thoughtful than The Twelves.

Enjoy the particularly big Twelves Replays -- all 6 are top flight. "Reckoner," "White Winter Hymnal," and "Dance Dance Dance" stood out for me.

And be sure to check out The Twelves' jam sessions! They dudes don't just spin...

the twelves - episode ii (mixtape)

Tracklist:

01. zeigeist - humanitarianism (the twelves replay)
02. radiohead - reckoner (the twelves replay)
03. mirwais - naive song
04. of montreal - gronlandic edit
05. david e. sugar - to yourself
06. the virgins - rich girls (the twelves replay)
07. daft punk - voyager
08. jupiter - chip
09. fleet foxes - white winter hymnal (the twelves replay)
10. metronomy - heartbreaker
11. the twelves - works for me (the twelves replay)
12. lykke li - dance dance dance (the twelves replay)

Extra large thank you to Discodust for disseminating the tunage.

Dr. Dre: Mixtape from '86

The righteous dudes at Mad Decent posted a prehistoric mixtape from none other than the Young MD, Dr. Dre. The mix was ripped from a cassette he recorded back in '86 when he was DJing at a club.

"Peep the stethoscope, Side 01 is all ‘86 hiphop blended at an ADD pace that would take a million years even in ableton. Side 02 he puts Mr. Postman over Unknown DJ and the rest is all Electro joints. "

Yup.

Out like a Lamb

As a response to Merky's mixtape last week, our favorite ramblin lamb, Peter Okie Weiss aka Big Baby Beethoven, has submitted a carefully curated mixtape of his own.

Pete's taste in music is par excellence and Out like a Lamb is a testament to his finely-tuned, sweet sweet orejas. I've ran it back a few times today, and it just makes ya feel good golly guaranteed... so hop that train for a big-fun musical journey with the OkieMon.

Tracklist:

1.	Various Artists - The Staples Singers - Let's Do It Again
2.	The Intruders - Cowboys to Girls
3.	Sam & Dave - I'm Not an Indian Giver
4.	Lee Dorsey - Yes We Can Can
5.	Nina Simone - Nobody's Fault but Mine
6.	Levon Helm - Nashville Wimmin'
7.	Levon & The Hawks - The Stones I Throw (sketch)
8.	The Felice Brothers - Frankie's Gun!
9.	Ike & Tina Turner - Proud Mary
10.	Rolling Stones - Play With Fire
11.	Fats Domino - I'm Ready

The Double Edge

Just heard from my friend Erotto that his beastly beast of a mixtape The Double Edge recently hit #1 on the hot list at thesixtyone.com. It's still floating around on the homepage and is on the top of the dance and electronic lists.

It's a throbbing, explosive 47-minute soundtrack to love, good listening for a long run, a rooftop party in Belgrade, escaping from an army of robots, or just cruising on the Autobahn.

This is big for Erotto, who after killing dancehalls in Eastern Europe has been trying to expand his American fanbase for some time. And big ups to Z Studios on making their first significant waves, with many more to come for sure...

Here's the menu:

1. Erotto - Robotto Introtto
2. Pony Pony Run Run - Star Survivor (Russ Chimes' Drive To Survive Remix)
3. Like Woah - Oh I Like (Knightlife Remix)
4. Feist - 1234 (Vanshe Technologic Remix)
5. PRIMARY 1 - Hold me Down (The Shoes Remix)
6. Sir Nenis & DJ Pushups - Gaybar Starlight
7. Futurecop! - Transformers
8. Mylo - In Your Arms (Linus Loves Remix)
9. Christopher Robin - Vision 2020
10. Parallels - Magnetic Friends
11. Justice - DVNO (LA Riots Bootleg Remix)
12. SymbolOne - Everything Louder Then Everything Else
13. Parallels -Ghost Machines
14. Hail Social - Heaven (Designer Drugs Remix)
15. Parallels - Ultralight
16. When Saints Go Machine - You Should be Someone Else (Moulinex Remix)
17. Futurecop! - N.A.S.A.
18. Shinichi Osawa - Star Guitar (feat. Au Revoir Simone)

Summertime Chunes

Forget Muxtape. The good people at Refinery 29 have put together an outstanding compilation para el verano. It features Tostado favorites, Fred Falke, Hercules & Love Affair, Air France and Beach House... + oh so much more. Clearly they've overlooked LFO's smash hit "Steal my Sunshine" but we'll forgive...

All tracks are available for free download - promotional purposes only of course. Grab some music, put your ipod on blast and soak up the rayyyyys, suckaz.
