sue kwon, one of the original new york street photogs captured the pre-giuliani era of new yorkers in their natural habitat long before it was cool. her career gained some footing when she got a job shooting for the village voice. since then, her photographs of strangers and hip hop stars like biggie, the beastie boys, and the wu-tang clan have appeared in vibe, paper, and the source. check out her new book called "Street Level" that features a collection of her photographs from 1987-2007.
