Electroma

Daft Punk's 2006 scifi flick "Electroma" comes out on DVD today ( July 22nd) complete with a 40-page book of color images.

The 67-minute film follows two motorcycle-helmet-clad robots (Hero Robot #1, and Hero Robot #2) on an epic roadtrip through the Cali desert in search of becoming human....in a black late 80s ferrari.

The film is written and directed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter (the duo behind Daft Punk), but they are not in it, nor is their music. The works of Todd Rundgren, Brian Eno, Sébastien Tellier, Curtis Mayfield, Linda Perhacs, Jackson C. Frank and Mathieu Tonetti are, however...i have it, its great.

The film has been very well received at both Cannes (where it premiered in 2006), and at midnight screenings of the film in various cities. Has anyone seen it yet?

Electro+Ferrari 412+Motorcycle Helmets+Roadtrip+Wall E = sounds promising.

buy it for $17 on Amazon, or rent it online at Lycos Cinema.

here's a teaser:
