Sam Taylor-Wood's 'Crying Men' collection captures a slew of prominent male actors crying. Taylor-Wood writes:
Some of the men cried before I even finished loading the camera, but others found it really difficult. People can decide for themselves which they think are the authentic tears and which they think are fake. It's about the idea of taking these big, masculine men and showing a different side.it's interesting to see photographs of these masculine hollywood-ers crying, or pretending to cry. think about it: they let some chick photograph them crying for the sake of "art" without any idea of how the shots would be received.
i find the shots extremely thought provoking: i try to picture the tone of each shoot...was he serious, was he cracking jokes, what kind of music was playing, did he flex afterward? the photographs are FULL energy and emotion but its all kind of subdued and obscured by the actor's overdramatized exteriors--thats what makes them great. i also thought they were kind of funny, like, perez-hilton-white-pen-i-pity-you-funny. they're unsubtle reminders what being a celebrity really means.
high fives to the actors for doing the shoot: the photos are sick.
thanks for the tip, gelly!
