Mr. Brainwash in LA

(via Nylon) If you’re in LA this week, swing by the “Life is Beautiful” art show opening this week. It’s the first exhibit mounted by French filmmaker-cum-street artist Mr. Brainwash (aka MBW) and it’s going to be epic.

Held at the former CBS studio, it’ll showcase hundreds of MBW’s paintings, such as a life-size remake of Edward Hopper’s iconic painting “Nighthawks” and a bar coded “Mona Lisa,” tons of sculptures, a ridiculous installation made from 100,000 shoes, movie projectors, and other ridiculous forms of mayhem.

A la Warhol (who would have turned 80 years old earlier this month), MBW also finds inspiration from random pop cultural icons and takes them on an acid trip. The final pieces are warped into various crazy mediums, leaving the room for interpretation wide open.
