You know what, I'm going to go ahead and say that I have never been a fan of voice overs in movies. Now don't get started with your Shawshanks and your Forest Gumps.
I think voice overs are a cheap tool used by film makers to convey narrative that they can't get across on screen.
The indian stands alone.
PS: Gump gets a free pass because the narrator does nothing but add to character development, doesn't do much in the forwarding narrative department. Also I guess it allows to see Gump's point of view when they jam 8 scenes in 2 minutes.
