barack obama- the college years

Time magazine published a series of photographs taken of Barack Obama in 1980. the photographs were shot by an aspiring photographer and acquaintance of Obama named Lisa Jack. in 1980 Jack, now a psychologist, was studying with Obama at Occidental College in LA when she asked him to pose for her. Jack recently found the 29-year-old negatives in her basement not having remembered taking so many photos. Jack courteously locked the negatives in a safe until after the election so the photos wouldn't be used for political purposes (some polls reported that Obama's smoking habit would negatively affect votes more than the color of his skin). Obama still smokes cigarettes, but will be pressured to quit on January 20th in compliance with the smoking ban at the white house. Obama responded to questions about the white house smoking ban explaining, “What I would say is that I have done a terrific job under the circumstances of making myself much healthier, and I think that you will not see any violations of these rules."
