Pantone, the self proclaimed color authority of the world, has announced their 2009 color of the year: Mimosa, after the revitalizing yellow sparkle of the mimosa tree and my fav pre-5pmcocktail. the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute explains: "The color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation."
a little yellow can go a long way. think of all the great things that are yellow: dorothy's yellow brick road, the beatles' yellow submarine, donovan's true love's hair and mellow yellow, taxi cabs, signs that remind you to slow down, pencils, bananas, mac&cheese...
