My friend Ateqah's younger sister, Asiya, is a finalist for the Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest. All the finalist photos are super compelling. Asiya's photo (above) is called Preschool Boys Taking a Break. It was taken in Gujarat, India last July. I love how the kids' chill sesh plays off the blues behind; each of their facial expressions is just right -- cool & unassuming. The colors of India are a wonderful thing and Asiya has drawn them out nicely here.
Little known fact, Indians never smile for pictures.
