Zealous patrons of electro goodness Steph Lund and Kristin Connor, under the moniker f o r t h e b e a t, are hosting an event tonight at Le Royale in the West Village. Bands Bad Veins, Paul and the Patients, and Nite Club will be performing upstairs, while Erotto, Pan Tostado and myself will be spinning downstairs all through the night. Tix are $8 in advance here and 10 at the door.

It's going to be a fun night of gyration and libation, hope yall can make it out. I have a bevy of new tunes I can't wait to drop on the populace. Plus my rapping anesthesiologist brother, Si Hoxie aka SHOX aka DJ Walt Schiller, will be in attendance and just might get on the mic, dropping flows akin to "Like that movie with Ben Stiller, There's something about Schiller, the crevice filler, with his marble man pillar."

Heathers Dance Party

Hi Team -

After a long hiatus, Ultramafic has simmered back up from the core. Come shake it with me, Pan Tostado, and Erotto, as we dominate the decks at Heathers this Saturday. 13th just east of Ave A, 9pm till wheneva!

I'll be starting the night with the likes of Alemeyu Eshete, Samuel Belay, Walias Band and other golden greats of Ethio-jazz. Also in the near future keep eyes and ears open for pics and vids from my 5 week jaunt in the motherland.

The Twelves in NYC

Tomorrow is the day. Haven't anticipated a show with this sort of longing since Tellier, who left me confused and unfulfilled.

I don't expect the same from the Twelves. On top of crafting glorious remixes and originals, they seek to incorporate as much improv into their shows as possible. I am expecting nothing less than the marriage of Daft Punk and Phish.

Although this is a low-quality vid, it gives a nice taste of what's to come. The arpeggio breakdown at around 1:45 is my raison d'etre.

Ghostly International

Came across an interesting albeit occasionally pretentious video on Current TV featuring the American electronic record label, Ghostly International. A lot of their tunage is pretty "ambient" - the hip alternative to classical for a massively efficient study sesh. But some of their stuff, particularly the track at 2:41 into the clip (maybe a Todd Osborn track?) got my head bobbin' with conviction. Even if the beats aren't for you, the Ghostly story, I'm sure you'll find, is pretty inspiring: cool dudes, gettin creative, gettin collaborative, gettin theirs.

If you're in Gotham and would like to catch Ghostly artists in action, you're in luck. Osborne plays with Depeche Mode writer/founder Martin Gore on July 24th at the beautiful Hiro Ballroom. Kate Simko takes a Spectral Residency victory lap at The Annex Matthew Dear breaks in new venue, Santo’s Party House on August 14th. To close out the summer, Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott tag team at the venerable PS1 Warm Up outdoor events. See ya there-- Tostado in the houuuse.
