Very clever, brilliantly staged, and visually striking, but--in my opinion--deeply arrogant and pandering, as well.
Its main purpose seems to be to give the viewer a chance to congratulate him/herself on being clever enough to catch all the references (which, incidentally, have absolutely no coherent theme or relevance to the song), and in doing this it completely drains the original masterpieces of their intended meanings ("Marat's Death" and "Self-Portrait With Bandaged Ear" seem to me particularly ill-suited to cheeky Swedish folk-pop pastiche).
Let's face it: this is really just a "Family Guy" bit for people who think they're too sophisticated for "Family Guy" bits.
erm...ok Tom....
i believe i got all but 1 (i have a degree in art history) they did a really good job!
wow - i guess that means i'm kinda stupid couldnt even find half :)
great video though :p
was so great! put a smile on my face
i smiled and loved it
I don't think it's some sort of "tool" to make those who know more about art history feel more superior...I just think it's highly clever, fun, and imaginative. I don't think the subject of music videos have to relate to the lyrics of the song, either. I really enjoyed watching this video, and there were about 3 that I didn't recognize, so I am really determined to figure those out!
Wow....I think the only thing that is arrogant is Tom Dolan's diatribe.
Lighten up. The video is beautiful and fun.
Oh, dear. This is embarrassing.
Anonymous (if that really is your name), I can only assume, since you seem to have taken my totally subjective opinion on this matter personally, that you must be the director of the video in question. I apologize if I hurt your feelings, but come on--lighten up, huh? I'm just some dude on the Internet--what the hell do I know about anything?
pretty puss response.
Okay, you win.

is perhaps the funniest arrangement of five English words I've ever seen. Kudos.
