kottke recently blogged a set of photos taken in and around les halles, paris's legendary open air market, in 1962. the whole set is worth checking out...but the two below are hands down the picks of the bunch. i really like the technicolor richness of the colors in the one below (the butcher in the center almost looks painted in), and the way that ray of light is captured in the second is just spectacular.
