art comparison: funeral at ornans v. accident on u.s. route 66

exercise your brain: what are some similarities between Courbet's Funeral at Ornans (1849) and Robert Frank's Accident on U.S. Route 66 (1956):

Courbet's painting depicts a small town funeral. Robert Frank photographed the aftermath of a roadside accident. The natural placement of the people coping with the accident mirrors those gathering in Courbet's piece. Both the painting and photograph, stunningly capture the somber and ghostly mood.
