i'm up late writing a paper on film theory and stumbled across this beautiful photograph taken from a Cinerama film. Cinerama emerged in response to the rising popularity of television in the 1950s. the projection screen consisted of three synchronized 35 mm projectors on a curve screen that subtended to 146° of arc (see right). the images were Technicolor dye transfers, and the aspect ratio was 2.59:1.
James Stewart, the first Hollywood Star to appear in Cinerama in How the West was Won.
