charlie rose tips his hat to the factory & Interview

In honor of Andy Warhol's 80th Birthday Charlie Rose interviews Marc Jacobs, Stephanie Seymour (contributing fashion editor to Interview), Glenn O'Brien (editor and director of Interview), and Peter Brant (chair of Brant Publications- owns Interview).

To freshen up on the Anniversary issue refer to the ML post from a few weeks back:
Interview's Warhol Anniversary issue.

Topics Addressed in the Interview:

  • Deciding on the Cover:
  • Why they decided not to feature Andy Warhol on the cover.
  • Choosing Marc Jacobs as Cover:
  • Marc Jacobs is the so-called new Andy Warhol-he understands business art. The idea of the suffering artist has vanished.
  • The future of Interview:
  • Hopes to restore the edginess & artistic touches the original Interview possessed.

definitely worth watching.

Interview Magazine to feature Marc Jacobs

here are some photographs from the june/july issue of Interview Magazine. the june/july issue pays homage to Andy Warhol's 80th birthday, the original publisher of Interview.

marc jacobs poses as a sort of bowie-puppet for the cover of Interview magazine/this game we all call fame. the photoshoot is getting hated on, but i think its pretty plucky. i'm perplexed by why are people so surprised that he would do the andy warhol for a cover shoot...its Marc Jacobs, the gay fashion designer who dressed up like a camel toe for his christmas party last winter.

and obvi this photoshoot was for publicity...warhol would have loved this! brilliant.
