at the opening of the Tully Scope festival, new york composer Nathan Davis (who likens cellphones to bells or reminders of time), encouraged audience members to use their cell phones. for his performance of "Bells", Davis provided audience members with unique numbers to dial that called up various sounds. can't find a video of the performance, but hop over to Davis' website to geek out over his didactic statement: Bells by Nathan Davis.
